When Is Next Friday?


It depends when you are asking.
If you ask today or tomorrow the reply is the 12th January.
If you ask on Thursday 11th when the next day (tomorrow) is Friday, the reply should be 19th and that will remain as 'next Friday ' until Thursday 18th

Next Friday is the Friday of next week

I was caught out when booking a hairdressers appointment last year. I phoned them on a Monday asking for an appointment next Thursday, meaning Thursday of that week. I go to the hairdressers and the receptionist said I wasn't booked in, then she noticed I was booked for the following Thursday! Thankfully they know me and squeezed me in anyway.

Now I always state the date whenever I make an appointment

Yep next Friday is not this Friday but the 19th. Friday 12th is this Friday. But, "the friday after next" is also the 19th.

Perhaps interpretation varies by region.

Because it is so far off, next Christmas is the next Christmas that comes along. Nearer to the time it just becomes Christmas.
