When I was but an East End street urchin, square was fine, in fact it didn't bother me if it was cut at all. Now, one prefers dainty triangles because they are easier to dip into one's cuppa soup.

Hi

Where I come from you only saw triangles at weddings and funerals.

My Aunt was dead posh, she used to cut her sandwiches in half, we just used to fold the slice over.
Mind you, we used to have a lot of cheese and jam sandwiches in those days.

I think what Morti is saying Mags is ...although it may look daintier to be eating triangles, one does actually need a big gob to eat it all in the end... so wouldn't a rectangular shape be more suited to the aforementioned generous gob*?

I like triangles. And stools with three legs. They work on uneven floors. That's why they were used as milking stools. Triangles put to practical use.
I'm a mine of really useful information...............
