I spent two weeks in San Ignacio lagoon and the Sea of Cortez, going out in pangas twice a day from a fishing boat, to see dozens of whales and hundreds of dolphins. The mother whales would nudge their young right up to out little boat so that we could scratch their heads. It was wonderful to look them in the eye. One day we had ten humpies along side our boat for about eight hours. I have some wonderful photos, and fabulous memories.Re: Gratitude of a Hump Backed Whale

What a great video. I would like to think the whale was saying 'thank you' although it might just be that she was finally free. How brave those people were freeing her. I know a humpback whale isn't dangerous but getting in the water next to something that size takes a lot of courage. Good on them.Thread Tools | |
