If you're gasping for air again call the doc, do you have a temperature?
I would get checked out, sometimes pneumonia doesn't feel as bad as expected.

No evidence of fever, but man-O-man I sure am producing huge amounts of mucus. I did go to the chemist and I bought a bottle of Mucinex. It is helping to thin and loosen the mucus.

Make sure you drink plenty of fluids as that will also thin the mucus. If you have a thermometer it would be good to check your temperature too, as your temp will always rise if you have an infection.
If your temp is 38C or more, it would be wise to see a doctor
