What is going on in America? It’s one thing after another lately.

Re: Fires in California

At the end of summer, much of the western U.S. is normally quite dry and the humidity is very low. Once a wild fire gets a good head-start it is difficult to contain, especially if the wind happens to be strong.
Currently, there are 17 separate wild fires raging in Northern California with 120,000 acres burned thus far. As of this morning 2,000 homes and business's have been destroyed. 17 dead, 185 burned. Whole communities have been wiped-out. In some places, as far as the eye can see, nothing is left standing.

Re: Fires in California

It is really sad to see what is happening. I have travelled to that part of the US over the past couple of years and the scenery is really beautiful and of course there are all the people losing their homes and businesses and sadly in a lot of cases their lives.

Re: Fires in California

I have a couple of old friends in California and I am glad to say they are both OK.
