"Card? What card?" "Money? I have no money."

So what happens then?
Hi

Then they are deported, never to return.

These are very few in number, the 3 million EU citizens we have here, all have reciprocal agreements, so we should get all the money back, including admin costs.

That is the big loser.

As for all the others, no access without medical insurance.

Dead Simple, produce it with your Passport on arrival, no Insurance, no entry,

As for the Illegals here, simple, no access to GP Services or Non Emergency Treatment without a NI Number.

What could be simpler than that?

Re: GP Surgeries

Hi

As soon as I get my Pensions in payment I will let you know.

In the meantime, I will leave you with this thought.

In both the Civil Service and Local Government, the more staff you employ and the more money you spend, the more you get paid.

Hardly a recipe for efficiency is it?

When I did suggest, in passing, that it may be much simpler and cheaper to do Video Conferencing than to swan off to Brussels every other Friday, on expenses, you would have thought that I had suggested that all present should have killed their first born at birth as a sacrifice to the Gods,

I completely agree, but can you imagine the army of do-gooders, supported by the gutter press and the ambulance chasers, standing with them outside their chosen A&E department, waving their flags and holding aloft their placards?

These are the people who are really destroying this country, not only the NHS.

Yes, they'd love that. Yet more free healthcare whilst they stay here enjoying the various handouts they'd qualify for!

Then I'll ask for relevant tests and referral see what happens! Good Luck!
TessA I have just got back from my doctors, where I saw a lady doctor who was filling in for somebody on maternity leave. She told me that she would love to work there on a permanent basis, and she was so good I would like that too.
She spent 20 mins listening to all I had to say and told me that all I was doing to help my problem, is exactly what she would have suggested. She then said " Just to establish there are no further problems I am sending you for a spine x-ray and a blood test which is specially for bone problems"
Neither of these will be very expensive but they will let me know what I am dealing with. The extra 10 mins that I spent with this doctor, establishing a correct diagnosis, has achieved far more than the previous 3 appointments, of 10 mins, that I spent with a young foreign doctor who was watching the clock and trying to guess the cause of my pain... so he could move on to his next patient.
Listening to the patient could save money on unnecessary prescriptions and provide more practical ways to reduce the patient's suffering.... as well as reducing further appointments!

Re: GP Surgeries

That's great Twink, I saw a different Gp yesterday, my usual one isn't in until 27th. Not totally happy as she didn't know why my jaw keeps shutting and I keep biting my tongue, when I asked what it could be she just said she didn't know, never heard of it before and didn't think it was anything to worry about.
She was sat in front of a computer, so she could have looked it up!
I think when you don't see a GP who knows you sometimes you get a good one or one who thinks they'll never see you again so they're not bothered.

I think you are right TessA¬!
The lady I saw said, I see you have been a cancer patient, so these extra tests will remove any worries you may have.
In your case I would have thought that, if the doctor didn't know why you keep biting your tongue at night, she would have asked you to return when she had done some research. Not knowing what is causing the problems is why you went to the doctor in the first place

Yep, and if I were a Pom, I'd be right there with them !
Far rather be a 'do-gooder' than a 'do-badder'.
Empathy and real care for the plight of one's fellow humans.

It all sounds great - in theory. But I could not simply ignore a person with excruciating back pain (non-emergency), migraine, ear infections, menstrual problems or even an in-grown toe-nail.

I'm sure there are heart-rending personal stories amongst these "illegals" who are only there because of totally inept border-control.
But who cares - let 'em suffer - even the kids, presumably ?

Given the number of so-called "illegals" compared to the population at large, it sounds ridiculous to suggest that they alone are bringing the system to its knees.
I'm sure that there is more than enough avoidable waste in other areas of government which could be pruned to ensure at least a semblance of humanity.

I know that aggro, macho tough-talk gives some a warm-fuzzy self-righteous glow - which I find both sick and perverse.
Surely, we are better than that ?

Re: GP Surgeries

My brother a British Citizen aged 65 has never troubled the NHS much in his life being a stoic kind of chap .Now just a little time before retirement has become very ill and is in considerable pain and has been referred to a specialist but his appointment is still over a month away .He was also told to make an appointment with a neurologist but on calling was given the answer there are no appointments ???????
MR M was referred to see a cardiologist the earliest appointment he could get was 12 weeks ahead .
In some areas it's much longer .
We don't need any extra people other countries making the waits ever longer.
