24 hours in the past

On BBC1. Anyone watching it? I'm thoroughly enjoying it. Ann Widdicombe is a right character as usual. Very interesting programme.

I'm enjoying it too. It's a real eye opener, glad I'm around now and not back in those times.Ann is a real character her political side showed last night.

Enfys, thank goodness we weren't around then. Such a grim life. Yes Ann was on top form last night!

Yes we are watching it and Anne is great but she isn't a typical Tory is she, very much on the side of the workers which was surprising.

I am really enjoying this programme, such a reminder of how lucky we are today . Those taking part are all good sports including Anne Widdecombe a dyed in the wool Tory supporting the Chartist movement so vociferously

I am guessing it is filmed at Blists Hill Victorian Town near Ironbridge, it looks authentic.

Last in the series last night. They spent the day in the workhouse. It was horrendous the way the inmates were treated in Victorian Britain,it was ruthless grind from morning to night.

Yes, it must have been awful Enfys. God love them all who had to live a life like that back then.

The series was great. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Re: 24 hours in the past

I remember a lovely old lady called Alice , she told me of her fears of going into the workhouse in Liverpool . She was in her 90s and I'm going back 45 years now . She remembered the horrors and was terrified of being put into a home as her memories were so vivid , she associated a home with the work house. Thank god when she died she was cared for .

I watched last night , of course it was staged , but in true life poor souls lived in torture . Man's inhumanity to man
