Automata http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1971325/ which interestingly stars Antonio Banderas. Not the usual choice of sci-fi film lead but he suits the part.

and

The Machine http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2317225/ which has a plot not all that far from Ex Machina in some ways, though a little darker.

Oh, forgot to mention that I'm looking forward to "Tomorrowland".

I've seen 'The Machine' and like you said it was a darker; a lot darker in fact.

The 'Automata' I haven't seen ... yet . I'm pretty sure it is showing in a cinema near me . Will give my verdict soon.

Re: Film - the most recent you have seen?

watched 'testament of youth' - what a wonderful adaptation of the book!

one of the saddest books I ever read. i cannot imagine a circumstance where in only a few years all my siblings and friends were dead and the world a totally different place. according to shirley williams her mother never got over the war with the loss of all her contemporaries and was never truly happy throughout her life.

Re: Film - the most recent you have seen?

OK ..
Made it to the flix to see Whiplash again and it disturbed me for the second time BUT ... wow ... a fantastically intense experience.
One of my friends has seen it 5 times now.

A superficial problem I have with this film is that, although the young actor is pretty superb in the part, I find his facial features unsavoury in some respects.

With a film such as this, where we have close-ups ad nauseum, then I need someone with different features.
I don't mean that I require something pretty or handsome, it's only that his head/face was not up to it for me.

OK ... I am very picky such is my background annat innit

The 'bullying' conductor was FABULOUS again and well deserved his Oscar.
