Re: Wimbledon 2013

I'll probably watch Murray in the final stages(assuming he's still there).

Same here Ania there are some excellent players on the scene at the moment who can hold good rallies ...... unlike Connors and McEnroe who, in their day, relied more on their serves to win a match.

Tsonga is another player who is creeping up on the top four

Re: Wimbledon 2013

Nadal's opponent, Steve Darcis played some first class tennis, way above his ranking of 131st in the World.

Although Nadal lost in three sets, the match was very close, with the first two sets going to a tie break. A really exciting game with some excellent points won and lost.

Re: Wimbledon 2013

I thought Steve Darcis played an excellent game and outplayed Nadal.
Nadal looked as though he had lost his 'touch' and to be honest his knee looked fine. He hasn't played on grass for 7 months, I believe.

I started watching the womens' games but the screaming gets on my nerves. Looks like we'll have to watch with the sound off
Thanks for moving this to its own thread, (Mags ?) wasn't sure whether there would be enough interest

Re: Wimbledon 2013

I usually watch some of the final weeks matches
I can't half watch tennis I have to give it my full attention and that takes up too much time.

My neighbour went today, I think her daughter got tickets for the Andy Murray match.

Re: Wimbledon 2013

Yeah its tennis time again.
I promised my husband that I would not watch too much tennis this year. So what happens I get in from work and Nadal is playing and losing so I watched that to the end. Was happy for Steve Darcis.
Then Murray was half way through his match so I watched that. Then I caught up with who else had played that day.
Ok cannot keep that promise and it was only the first day.

Exactly I love to see new people coming through and winning. But I will take time to talk to my husband tonight and not shout at the telly - as long as there is not another exciting match on.

Laura Robson did well, and pleased to see Djokovic win.
Federer has eased his way into the next round but although I didn't watch Murray play, I read that he started nervously.

I enjoy the doubles too - especially the old fellas

I'm lucky Shirley, hubby loves Wimbledon too
