Tips - for staying cooler

As I have severe nerve damage, I'm always on the look out for cooling products .....
Heard today that placing a bottle of water in the freezer, then putting the frozen water (cloth underneath) in front of the fan will circulate cooler air instead of the already hot air in the room ......
Also - tennis wrist bands, emersed in very cold water, wring out and place them on your wrists also works, as does running your wrists under the cold tap - hopefully the wrist bands will have a longer effect .....
Have ordered my bands..... and water in the freezer ....

Re: Tips - for staying cooler

I learned when I lived in Africa to always close the windows & curtains/blinds on the sunny side of the house, open on the shady side. Wear loose, light (weight & colour) clothing that covers you up. Do the housework & gardening evenings & early morning if you can.
Good tips there Pats!

Fans electric and manual help too, I was given a Victorian fan ladies used to carry around to cool themselves and it works quite well with a vigorous flicking of the wrist LOL

Yes Julie - I had a fan - and Hubbs used to fan me with it ... went astray when we moved .... anyway I'd like to save him from that, so I've ordered the wristbands, I have a little hand held battery fan that I keep by me - thats a help .....

I put ice cubes in a hot water bottle, wrap in a towel and put my feet on it deliciously cold ...

Re: Tips - for staying cooler

I recently bought some blackout curtain linings for the large west facing windows in the sitting room in the hope of keeping the room warmer in the winter. They have proved excellent at keeping the sun out
