Isn't there a festival somewhere? I think it may be in Bristol. It's a very restful thing to watch.
I can sit for hours watching them. It looks so easy but it takes so much skill. One flyer showed me how much strength you need to handle these kind of kites. I was lifted off the ground like a feather at the first slight breeze.
I used to make my own simple diamond shaped kite when I was a kid - a couple of canes, some newspaper, paste made out of flour and water and a bit of string. They could fly !
There used to be a fantastic Kite shop in Malvern, it has gone now.
I remember taking my son there and we both had a stunt kite which we flew on the hills as did my neighbours children, it was great fun
