I don't need my winter fuel payment, so I donate it to a local cancer hospice that can make good use of it, plus they can gift aid it

Well good for you , all those that are well off and can do without it should do the same .

There are plenty of pensioners who don't need it. My mother is one, my sisters inlaws are more

However it's not a means tested benefit

I would hate it be means tested , that would be degrading .

Yet you are disparaging to those who have posted saying they don't need it ?

Why should those who don't need it give it to charity? If I was given £200 just because of my age I'm sure I'd spend it on myself , even if it was a party

Surely as a benefit it should be means tested and those who don't need it don't get it , leaving more in the kitty for those who do need benefit ?
