Agree with Bruce, when you are 129 you won"t really care.[just a small joke]

Sorry about that. When I made a similar enquiry I found that Mortgage Lenders started getting "sniffy" at the 70 year point and the property value started to fall.

Re: Lease extension on flats

My neighbour, who I chose not to speak to for many months but have recently seen around for some talks, phoned me yesterday while planes were thundering to and fro at the air show! Gah!!!! Any road up, she was quite perturbed about this lease thing and we've had another chat this evening.

Reading the HA leaflet again, it seems to me that we pay the valuation fee (£425 + vat) and then we get to know what sort of money we're talking about. Had an email from their lease specialist so I might ring her tomorrow to find out more information.

Re: Lease extension on flats

It's a total nightmare and a slow process, think it's taken nearly a year to get my daughters' lease done - I think each time there's any contact with the leaseholder they have 2months to consider the paperwork. might not be a problem for you, Jazzi, but I think they were getting very down with it hanging over their heads.
It did give them time to save a bit more, though.
At least having a neighbour to discuss it with must help, I expect.

Re: Lease extension on flats

Hi cranberry. I do know it can take a year, but apparently if a lease holder starts the ball rolling then the 'clock' stops. And if I'm right, they can pass on the lease extension to a prospective buyer without them having to wait 2 years. I think.

Didn't get a chance to call the HA today.
