Britain should accept immigrants for free trade deal, senior Indian diplomat warns

This is once again in the news. I am surprised to see that India expects the talks to take ten years.

"Britain needs to accept higher levels of immigration from India if it hopes to sign a free trade deal after Brexit, a senior Indian diplomat has warned.

YK Sinha, India’s High Commissioner to the UK, warned that after Brexit it may take up to a decade for the two countries to negotiate a free trade deal and the “freer movement of people and professionals” would be a crucial component of it."

India warned Britain!!!

How awfully decent of them.....We're so stupid we know nothing.
Thank God the rest of the world are more intelligent and clued up than us silly Brits.

We know nothing!

Maybe we should invite some random diplomat from every country in the world to tell us what's what before we dare to decide for ourselves what might constitute the framework for a potential deal !

Still, We can consider ourselves now telt. Thank You Mr Sinha.

Hi

One of the big things about Brexit was ending free movement.

Swapping one set of migrants for another is not a good idea in my view.

The Minister is merely repeating what Boris was told when he visited India.

Why would anyone from India want to come here?

Re: Britain should accept immigrants for free trade deal, senior Indian diplomat warns

I understand my local health trust recently made a trip to India and recruited 30 highly trained doctors..
“We carried out 53 interviews and are absolutely delighted that we have been able to make 34 offers across a range of medical and surgical specialties – including respiratory, neurology, trauma and orthopaedics and general surgery. The calibre of the candidates we interviewed was exceptional and we are now preparing for the new recruits – both consultants and clinical fellows – to join us.”http://www.worcsacute.nhs.uk/news-an...unty-hospitals
I think we should welcome highly trained professionals from other countries to fill any skill shortages, what we don't need it hundreds of unskilled EU nationals flooding in here to take a chance on finding work and availing themselves of our resources while contributing nothing.

Once we extract ourselves from the wasteful corrupt EU and our economy flourishes we can start training more people here and won't need rely on overseas people quite so much.

A lot of them are encouraged to by family because many train as doctors, or similar professions, and know they can get jobs here. Unless you are very wealthy, living standards in India are not as good as we have, and in the past they have been allowed to bring their families here.
Not my opinion, it is what I have been told by Indian people!

Brexit wasn't about immigration though, or so you all kept telling us, now the tune has changed.
Incidentally quite a lot of Indian born people are going back to India, both legal and illegal immigrants

As prospects in the UK dim, India itself is starting to shine: Of Indians choosing to leave the UK, nearly nine in 10 return to their homeland. India has been labeled the world’s fastest-growing major economy, and was ranked by Ernst & Young as the third-best destination for technology investments.
“Their return is a reflection of a combination of factors,” Virendra Sharma, the member of parliament for Ealing Southall, told Hindustan Times. “India is also progressing rapidly; they may feel that it is better to be back among family and friends.”

Who mentioned Brexit? I was just saying that Indians encourage medically trained relatives to come here because, if they are good, they get a job and better life here. If India do well financially, some may wish to return to their home country and I hope they can because it means the the poor in India can get better health care!
