The View from Abroad

Some of you might be interested in this ABC broadcast on this morning's AM

http://www.abc.net.au/radio/adelaide...-talks/9901996

It is only 3 minutes long but if the broadcast doesn't work there is a transcript however radio usually works no matter where you are.

We don't hear much about Brexit here because it doesn't really affect us so this is a rare glimpse.

"Two big manufacturing companies in the UK have issued dire warnings about the state of Brexit talks.

It's now two years since Britons voted to leave the European Union, and nine months until the day it's actually supposed to happen, but discussions on how it will be conducted have been fraught.

Aerospace company Airbus and the car manufacturer BMW are warning they're facing difficult decisions that could cost jobs."

It's not good .
However presumably BMW will still want to SELL their cars and it's a big market here .

Hi

BMW will still sell cars here, they will just be slightly more expensive.

Hardly a concern for them

Not so many when the bubble bursts and we have not got the money to buy them.

Re: The View from Abroad

I got the impression that they were more concerned about the economics of producing and distributing cars in the UK which I presume will lead to less employment in the car industry in the UK in the long term unless there are clear decisions made soon.

Sales are only part of the equation.

I haven't got the money to buy them anyway so no change for me.

Re: The View from Abroad

This is one of the reasons I voted remain
My little northern Welsh county is absolutely dependent on Airbus.
With its associated industries it employs over 20,000 people locally
We wouldn't cope with that amount of job losses

Hi

The area voted leave though Rhian.

The Union Rep on TV said they voted to leave, not to lose their jobs.

We sold our stake in Airbus, the decision will be taken abroad.

What on earth did they think would happen? It was clear that disassociation from an economic block of this size and influence would lead to major economic fallout and that it would adversely affect workers, prices and supply of goods and services. Anyone voting leave and thinking that money was going to fall from the sky and life would be rainbows and unicorns didn't deserve a vote.
