It’s funny how some daysPass by in our deep haze
We scarcely note their passing
More follow, seems everlasting
If only we could slow things down
Turn this time thing fully round
Stop to smell the flowers
Not just minutes, but fully hours
Not just smell but stare for ages
Rather like those ancient sages
Who considered things in detail
Before inventing therapy retail

Fir trees trimmed with tiny lights,
Sound of sleigh bells in the snow,
That was Christmas long ago.
Tykes on sleds and shouts of glee,
Icy-window filigree,
Sugarplums and candle glow,
Part of Christmas long ago.
Footsteps stealthy on the stair,
Sweet-voiced carols in the air,
Stocking hanging in a row,
Tell of Christmas long ago.
Starry nights so still and blue,
Good friends calling out to you,
Life, so fact, will always slow…

Lovely Christmas poem Sweetie Pie.I wrote this for a challenge, on a poetry forum long gone. Write a poem in the style of Tennysons Lady Of Shallot........
This Road Once Lead To Camelot.
Gone, sights Tennyson saw plainly
G.M.T. crops, bearded barley
Combined harvesters heard clearly
Cutting, baling, binding early
This road once led to Camelot
The river full of rusting rubble
New houses cover where then stubble
Bringing peoples and all their trouble
Past, is the island of Shallot.
The Lady's legend is of yore
They didn't believe, wanted more
Progress and greed replaced folklore
The past is dead and gone before
Lost, once strong towered Camelot
High rise appartments fill the space
Where a dream castle had such grace
Now none can ever see the face
Cursed, forgot, Lady of Shallot.
