I still have relatives in North Uist. But I have been down sauff for most of my life. My dear wife is a southern belle, my three children are in London, Nottingham, and Cumbria. My sister lived in Jamaica for about 20 years. Quite a few different accents when we get together.

Talking of dialects.......Here in the Borders the local dialect is really strong.I've been up here for years now but still learn new words.
My partner just picked an item of clothing out of the washing and said
'oh, your swim shorts are covered in oose!'
Never heard that one before......it's Scots for 'fluff'
