Horseradish.

I'm wondering if anyone on the forum has ever transplanted horseradish. We have a very old plant growing in our flower bed at the side of the house and would love to move it. I've tried a couple of times but both times the plant has died. It's a very old plant and people always comment on how tasty it is and it would be a shame to lose it.

haven't had any for years must try some again - also I am unable to get any mustard and cress in my neck of the words - southern hemisphere that is! - I can find mustard seeds to grow but never cress seeds!

It's maddening here you can't get cress at all, just mustard. I was always partial to an egg cress sandwich bug haven't had one in years now.

Its weed with a very deep root.

Try and get as much of the root out when you try to transplant

Re: Horseradish.

Just had a thought I remember my grandad a really good gardener said he couldn't move the horseradish, if just doesn't like moving but he took rook cuttings and managed 5/10 to get a new plant started. They really like staying put once they are established.

Re: Horseradish.

Thanks Julie. That could be right. Ther're certain plants that don't like to be moved. That's another direction I can look into.
