Clean headlights

I've got my headlights nice and clean now after a tip from a handsome young man with a beard and earlobe plugs in Halfords suggested using toothpaste to clean them! They'd gone yellow and misty and not very bright. Apparently Toyota put a coating on that does this as it gets old. I should have known really as I use toothpaste to clean my glasses if they get a bit scratched but, never thought about using it anywhere else.

Re: Clean headlights

Interesting never heard of using it for glasses I do use it on the bathroom mirror to stop it fogging up though.

Re: Clean headlights

I use it on my diving mask to stop that fogging up too.
(The alternative is using spit, not nearly so refined )

Ooer. I've never heard that one before, Julie. What do you do exactly, just smear some on and wash it off again?

Just a little and I use it like the old fashioned pink windolene just keep rubbing until it disappears.

Re: Clean headlights

I wouldn't use toothpaste to clean my glasses, it's an abrasive and could damage them.

Re: Clean headlights

I think toothpaste is a great idea!
A Brillo pad is even better.

( It keeps me in work!)

Seriously just don't.

Reminds me of the old toothpaste ad that went, "You'll wonder where the yellow went when you brush your teeth lights with Pepsodent".
