Re: Poetry please.

I hate cabbage
That bugs have ravaged

Its dark and horrible
Its not possible

To eat unless boiled
It’s wee soiled

From countless
Creepy crawlies

Can’t someone make
It taste like cake

Then I’m sure
It’d be eaten more

Like Marie Antoinette
Of the regal set

She said let them eat cake
Till their belly’s ached

that’s all I have to say
So please ban cabbage today

Re: Poetry please.

Another day dawns on planet Earth
Brilliant sunshine and breaking surf
Laps upon breaks upon the shore
Could we really ask for more

Wait, our friends on planet Greendor
Have sent a lengthy bulletin
Floats slowly toward us and there’ll be more
Why choose bottles to put messages in.?

It’s what we’ve always done
It’s solar powered by the sun
A bottled message attracts attention
Gives more chance of media mention

The message is not good news
Another planet wants somewhere to move
All its people will soon be without home
So to planet earth they will come

“I hope you’ll remove those human pests”
“But of Earths species they’re rated best”
“ How can you say that, cos everyone knows
They waste their resources, wherever they go”

Waste, pollute they have no pride
Still destroying their forests wide
They eat junk and get fatter & fatter
Coating everything in sugar and batter

NO there is no hope for them
“Are we doing them a favour then?”
Yes, mince them up for our pets food
Clear them out, they’re loud & rude.

Re: Poetry please.

The Bachelor Watches “The Bachelor”
BY JACOB SAENZ
I sit on the couch & witness my life
projected on a screen — I am white
w/a chiseled, dimpled chin & no lips.
I’m a farmer who lives alone in a loft
& not a lowly office worker who lives
w/a roommate in an apartment where
dust balls decorate the floors & walls
& the ceiling rings w/children’s feet
running back & forth like baby bulls.
I am crazy enough to be a contestant
on a show where I’m contractually obligated
to propose to a woman who believes
in a heteronormative, patriarchal
idea of what a family should be.
At the end of every episode, I offer
roses to those I wish to make out w/more
& take out on prepackaged romantic dates
I could never afford on my bachelor budget.
For example: a date in a castle, a glass
slipper prop, a clock winding its way
down to midnight. My date & I sip
champagne, chat & eat, then we dance
to a live orchestra led by a maestro
who wishes he were dead. A giant screen appears
& plays a clip of a live-action Cinderella movie
w/Prince Charming played by an actor
I’ve seen slaughter & behead a soldier
like clipping the head off a rose.
In real life, my dates consist of dinner
at Burger King where we dine on chicken
fries & don paper crowns for a royal feel.
On another show date, I take two women into South
Dakota where we fly over the heads of white
slave owners carved into a sacred Native mountain.
At the end of the date, I offer no roses to either
woman & abandon them on a canopied bed
in the middle of the Badlands & take off
in a helicopter to provide the cameras
an aerial view of wilderness & despair.
At the end of the show, I find myself proposing
to a fertility nurse in a barn made to look
like a chapel & not the place where I raised
my first horse, ****ed my first goat. Here,
I will milk the cows for our future offspring
to drink straight from the teat like I did as a kid.
The show ends & I rise from the couch
& walk into the kitchen. On bended knee,
I reach for a bottle of beer deep
in the back of the fridge, pop the top
like a question & take a swig, cold
& crisp once it hits my full lips.

If it takes more than five minutes to construct a Poem, forget it.

Silver Surfers.

They call us all silver surfers,
Though my hair will never be grey,
I have it dyed frequently brown,
It will always be that way.

Silver Surfers are people like me
Who came to the net rather late,
Not clued up to use it you see,
Ignorance was nearly our fate,
But we struggled like mad to master,
Modern technology we could get,
With practice we soon got faster
The twenty first century we all met.

Re: Poetry please.

Letterboxing.

My friend & I had searched Dartmoor.
Following the letterbox lore
We'd visited places we'd not have seen,
If letterboxing had never been.

From our home and base we'd go,
West, East, or North in rain or snow,
To Blacktor, Yes Tor, High Willhayes,
Princetown also (but not the same days).
With maps & compass, food & drink,
It was Burrator the last I think.

We've seen the moor in rain & fog,
(And fallen into many a bog),
In Summer sun with glorious view,
Wild plants, birds & ponies too.

So thanks to those who started our fun,
Good luck to all who carry it on,
Dartmoor boxes we hope you'll stay,
And give pleasure to others who go that way.
