Because of my recent tummy troubles, I thought l would give wheat bread a miss and try Rye bread. I bought a loaf called 'Try Rye' but l find it tastes very sour.! Is this usual? To me it is very heavy and a bit like Irish Soda bread.
Does anyone have any ideas what l can do with it or put on it to make it more appetising?
I don't mind Rye bread but have to be in the mood for it.
In the early eighties I went to Austria along with all my family - parents, grandparents etc. We ordered sandwiches and when they arrived they were rye bread, something we had never had before. They were also open sandwiches and I remember my Mum asking 'Where's the top.'

Hi Art rye bread can be unpalatable , maybe try making your own bread with spelt flour which is an ancient grain and better tolerated by many
Went on a wheat free diet once and bought rye bread.
Some loaves were dark and disgusting and others were really nice, it's just a case of trial and error.
I think I remember Sainsbury's did a nice one but you just have to experiment.
