Remember Bubble Cars

Who remembers the little Bubble Cars?

In today's paper there is one going to be auctioned by it's American owner on 18th August.
It is a limited edition 1965 three-wheeler collector's item made by Isle of Man firm Peel Engineering Co. and only 45 were made.
49 c.c. engine, 4.2 hp and gives a top speed of 38 mph.

Guess what they are expecting it to fetch?

Around £80,000.

Some of them were made in the former British Rail engineering works here in Brighton.

Re: Remember Bubble Cars

Oh my you've brought back memories for me . Dad bought a bubble car ,there were 6 of us including parents , we used to all cram into the bubble and drive to London from Bognor Regis to see our nan . Dad used to have a starter thingy and pump at the front to get it going . We kids in the back 4 of us aged 8, 6, 4 and 2 loved it , arms and legs everywhere . The front of our car opened front wards and we'd climb out having had a crushed journey . We kids still talk often about our bubble car .

Thanks for the memories

Lol that brings back memories we were 6 in a bubble car too but with 4 adults my dad would ferry us 30 miles then we'd get out and he'd go back and get the rest. We used to go to bexhill on sea like that
