Re: What a bloody noise

When I had finished upgrading my computers, I ended up with a sin-bin of computer parts.

Rather than throw the lot out, I built three computers and gave them away to disadvantaged kids.

To give my old computers to disadvantaged kids would increase their disadvantage.

Re: What a bloody noise

Buy new that is solution #1, solution #2 is to take to service on repair, it is probably just fun which becomes noise due to dust, have similar problem.

If it's a noisy fan you could change the fan for, around, twenty squids.

Very easy to fit, usually.

Compared with a 300 pound spend it's a no brainer. (IMO)

I dislike laptops because you can't fix them yourself.

Re: What a bloody noise

Most of these fans are speed controlled (which is why they have three or four wires not two) and only operate when the temperature of the microchip increases above a certain point. The noise is usually caused by the speed of the fan being increased higher than normal because the heat sink is blocked with dust.

Remove the dust and either the fan will never run or it will run more slowly, less noisily and only intermittently.

With a smile, OG, I have to point out that, in your 3rd picture, we can see the lower grill through which the air flow enters your power supply (top of page).

It's stuffed with fluff!"!

That power supply probably has a fan inside.

That may be the fan which is screaming for attention.

Just a thought.
