Help Wanted

There is a considerable amount left on my reel of clingfilm but somehow it's become impossible to unroll, bits breaking off and only able to unroll a piece a couple of inches wide. Anyone any magic trick for sorting this, or do I have to put it in the bin?

Re: Help Wanted

It's wore than a roll of selloptape when it does that, isn't it Sue.

I think it if is a nearly new roll, I would persevere finding the end and carefully unwinding it back to where the fault started.

If however, it is nearly finished anyway, I'd chuck it and buy a new one.

Re: Help Wanted

Oh dear, I was afraid that would be the answer, perseverance!! There's rather a lot left on it and I shan't be shopping again until Wednesday, so that's what I'll be doing for the next day or so.....

Re: Help Wanted

Annoying, could you cut some of it off and start to unroll again?

I don't use cling film, not after Health Scares on TV years ago.

Cling film? Work of the Devil!

I used to wrap cheese in that stuff and trying to get if off again, especially with soft cheese, was a right mess.

I use sandwich bags now.

Re: Help Wanted

Try to work a pair of scissors into the end a couple of layers down then slide them across, cutting as you go. That might help to find an undamaged layer.

Re: Help Wanted

Hi

Stick it in the freezer for a while, low temperatures reduce it's adhesiveness.

When you get a new roll, keep it in the fridge, much easier to use and it will not stick to itself.
