Nuisance Squirrels

I read something in my gardening magazine today which you might find worth trying if you get a problem with squirrels digging up your tubs and containers.

This happens every autumn here, when they raid a neighbors walnut tree, then come into my garden to bury their trophies.

The tip says this:

"Work garlic cloves, lemon or orange peel or human or dog hair into the compost - the squirrels dislike these scents."

I never knew that , and will give that a try if the little blighters come back this autumn.
I thought it a cheap, cheerful and non-chemical thing to try.

Not when the little blighters keep digging up my tubs I don't luv 'em! They expose all the roots of the plants to frost, and throw compost all over the place.
My neighbour's big Walnut tree has been taken down now, so maybe I won't get so many squirrels this winter.

I don't get just the odd one or two ya know, I get coach loads of the buggers come day in, day out. Then later next year I have baby walnut trees sprouting up everywhere where they've buried the nuts.

They also get on my bird tables and chuck the food everywhere.
