Hospital Appointments

When a Dr callled to see me in the week I mentioned an uncomfortable problem Ive got, she said she will refer me to Hospital.I expected a long wait at our local hospital, but today I got a phone call from another Hospital, offering me an appointment for Monday coming.Unfortunately I have another appointment so had to refuse. I did not request another appt. as Ive no idea how to get to this particular hospital although Ive looked it up now how to get there, but it will take me at least an hour by two buses, thats if things run smoothly. On Monday Ill have to ring the Dr to see what can be done. Its such a pity ,normally there is a long wait for Hospital appts.& Id like this seen to the quicker the better

Re: Hospital Appointments

It seems a shame you had to turn the early appointment down deylon, isn't there anybody who could take you?
They perhaps a cancellation, but it might be months before you are offered another one.

Does your son not drive, or could you enquire from somewhere like Age Concern if there is a local volunteer driver charity in your area?
We have 2 or 3 volunteer places here, that help with drivers for hospital or doctor appointments.

Re: Hospital Appointments

I hope you manage to get another appointment in the near future Deylon.

My husband had a hospital appointment come through today and it's on a Sunday! I've never known that before - I'm wondering if I should check it's not a mistake.

That's what they are doing round here as well carol.

I had to have a scan on a Saturday late afternoon not long ago.
I too, thought it was a mistake.

My last scan appointment was for 7.30 pm on a Saturday. It was great, the hospital was quiet, only a few of us waiting for scans.

Just proving Jeremy Hunt wrong, hospitals DO work seven days a week.

Re: Hospital Appointments

I just wondered if your hospital runs a bus service deylon ? Ours runs the Peter bus service you book a seat by phone a few days before your appointment and they pick you up from your door or nearest bus stop. Going round to pick up others on the way. It's cheaper than the normal bus and as you are all going same place can be quite a chatty experience. They bring you back in the order they picked you up.
