See link - contract for Medium/low secure mental hospital. I assume we are not talking about High units.

Look I don't want to argue about this but with my friend she was put on high security NHS ward and told that she had been sectioned. She wasn't in more that a few days but they discovered that there was no mental illness.
It really isn't worth making a fuss, about whether the staff at the hospital used the wrong word or not, especially as when I said it to Deylon it was intended as a light hearted remark, to stop her worrying about her friend.

As I said Twink, I know what you are saying, but I am concerned that if people start talking about "secure units" then many could find that a very scary situation and I can assure you it would not happen for someone who just has thoughts of ending it. . As you said your friend was admitted for no more than a few days then it is likely that it would be a 72 hour (possibly voluntary) admission; something vastly different to a "high security" facility. Anyway, although I feel clarity is important, I agree it is not worth making a fuss about (if you think that was my intention then I am sorry but you are mistaken).

Re: Giving Up

2008/2010 were my worst years and now only winter months I get depressed and think that way.
But just these last few days I have put plans into action to try and keep my head clear this winter and a more positive attitude.

But not to worry I daresay I will still be about next year getting on all your nerves with my music and joke selections.

And we all hope you are. Sometimes we all need help to lift our spirits, and often just a chat can help when you feel down....we are here if you needs us.

I don't believe that anybody wants to die, unless they cannot face living any longer, owing to physical and mental problems. Those who just say something about wanting to die are often unable to deal with life.... but if they really want to die they do it privately..... the others, who tell you what they are going to do, just want help and that is what you gave to your friend , so well done!
It is a wonderful feeling, having stopped somebody from taking their own life, and I would do it again for anybody!
