Optical fibre cable is part of the answer Julie darlin', but the other problem is that your broadband modem is a long way from the phone exchange and therefore the quality of the signal is dropping off.

Re: Wobbly and slow and very unreliable

Julie, the camp site wifi is only as good as the router they use, and if they don't have an extender (or whatever), then surely the facility is useless? When I visited the caravan site in Suffolk recently, wifi was only available in the entertainment area, obviously where the router would be. The signal wouldn't reach caravans.

The owners need to have a rethink, if that is what they are trying to attract new customers with.

ETA. The Suffolk place charged PAYG on their wifi. Is your place charging, Julie?

I think the tourers pay per night but us permanent static vanners aren't paying. Unless our ground rent goes up but they assured us last month it wasn't going up this year as we had all done our own mowing so the costs are down for a change.

luckily, I don't have to travel anywhere to get cr@p broadband, I can just stay at home. I sometimes get 0.4mps and other times 4mps.

How many at the caravan site are sharing the connection? Having too many sharers won't help the connection speed.

Re: Wobbly and slow and very unreliable

I'm home, back to my lovely BT broadband that is quick and reliable. I really don't think I'll be bothering at the van again, I think there were about 40 of us sharing the connection not sure how many at once of course, but no one enjoyed the experience. One chap had camped in Africa and said he had a better connection and speed in the bush !

Re: Wobbly and slow and very unreliable

My friends in Scotland can't get broadband at all, too far from the exchange and at the end of the line they are told.

The man who camped in Africa was quite right Julie, many areas on the Masai Mara receive excellent signal.
