Thanks everyone, these did not leap out when taken, but a second look while i was at a loose end proved its not always wise to ditch pics at first glance.

Taken with various kit over the years, my favourite is the grebe this was shot with a 14 year old very basic camera through a scope.

I dont do much photo shop usually a crop for composition and to reduce for the web, with a tiny bit of sharpening at the end.

So vivid and crisp that ... looking at these photos feels decadent....like eating too much sugar all at once. This kind of perfect clarity is mesmerizing...my gosh, the contrast of the reflections in the berries, the complimentary hues of the red against the green...

and here I was, determined not to eat anything before going to bed.
