Well, at school the history we were taught was Medieval history and The Renaissance and beyond that the syllabus just didn't go.

I cannot believe that I reached my age never knowing or being taught such a major chunk of history.

Part of the history of this period was also covered in the film 'Gandhi', if you've ever seen this film.
