Portable Oxygen Concentrators.

Well I saved up my money and sent away for the catalogue and looked at various concentrators. The reason being is that years ago I inquired about one through The Royal Brompton and they where under the impression that the NHS does not do portables only fixed home ones. So I never bothered asking again. Now I am looking at getting out more and possibly fitting in a flight or two to see friends and family.
I have always used cylinders since 2011 and they have been ok but very cumbersome to carry about on my shoulder also going abroad was a no no because of getting a exchange supply and some airlines frown at o2 users and some even charge upto a £100 extra.
So I thought save up yer pennys David and buy a bugger. I did that and then a mate of mine from up in the bleak north told me she had a concentrator which would suit me down to the ground and that she was given it on the NHS.
It goes upto 5ltrs.
So 2 weeks ago I phoned my COPD nursey and she assessed me this morning and reccomended I have a portable concentrator (yipeeeeeee) thats saved me £2.500.
I'm a happy bunny today I can tell yer.

So remember that old saying that yer mum would shout at yer.

"If you don't ask,you don't get."

Great news but I'm surprised you haven't been offered it earlier. My sil had copd and she kept moaning that the gp kept trying to force a portable oxygen system on her... Nhs lottery I suppose.

Well done Longfella, your patience has paid off.

Now perhaps you can treat yourself to something else with the money you've saved.

p.s. My dad was always saying that "If you don't ask, you don't get," too.
