Re: Brexit: UK looks to keep visa-free travel from EU

[
''This is interesting. We are not planning border controls for eu citizens''
No benefits at all,
...no hospital treatment without insurance.
...jobs to be arranged before visas are allowed
That should cut down a bit on those wanting to come here.

We can make the country such a dump that nobody will want to come here, sounds like a good idea to me.
Oh sorry, it wasn't all about immigration was it?

Hi

The objective of visas is two fold.

One is to prevent criminals etc gaining access and the other is to prevent Economic Migrants arriving to work here.

We have Visa arrangements with much of the world.

Keep yer knickers on this was only about visitors ie holidays... Not for the right to remain or work..

Yesterday I did hear something to be concerned about a man we refer to as beagle guy ( because he has 3 beagles) got chatting and noticing OH's English accent he asked where we came from etc then he asked what the heck was going on in the UK.

He explained he works in the export of fruit and veg to the UK from NL and next week he is flying over to meet with a big supermarket chain because they have asked him to increase prices on a sliding scale so that the UK customer wont be so shocked when Brexit finally happens and the trade deals are invalid...

He was shocked at this underhand strategy he said instead of trying to work through and make new deals they are just prepared to let the customer pay for it and put the blame elsewhere.

Hi

A couple of things Cass.

Our systems are so bad that we have loads of overstayers who work here for years, they arrive as a tourist.

Secondly, yes it is wrong what the Supermarket is doing, but there we go.

There is a growing movement in our ruling Party, the Conservatives just to go for a hard Brexit, Theresa May's No Deal Scenario.

If this does happen the biggest tariffs are on agricultural products and they are big.

WTO food tariffs average 22.3% and food prices will rise significantly until we have negotiated trade deals with other countries.

Even then prices will still be higher due to increased transportation costs for vegetables.

The big Importers are also having to factor in another big fall in the value of the £, which may or may not happen, they fix their exchange rates a year in advance.

Presumably they will then blame him and the other suppliers for the increased prices?

Hi

I agree Cass

Our Politicians are going to be in a right mess when we leave, they blame the EU for everything.

I was hoping when we leave that we will see our politicians for what they are, and can vote accordingly, they won't have any excuses any more.

Re: Brexit: UK looks to keep visa-free travel from EU

The whole thing is a shambles, people were not given the whole facts for/against, the government was not ready for brexit. We need immigrants, workers who do jobs and pay tax , and easy access for British people who wish to work/live abroad, this has been happening and accepted for thousands of years. What people are getting mixed up with is assylum seekers who have to be given free housing/health care etc but gIve nothing in return due to health problems/ lanuage. It will be years before everything is sorted ,many of us will not be around
