Cats and knitting

I have recently reformed a two year old cat. Last night when I took my knitting out for the first time he just went crazy, attacking the wool, and my hand eventually (I think he was just confused), so I abandoned the project for the evening. I'm wondering if there are any cat owning knitters who can offer any advice. I don't want to have to stop knitting. Even after I gave him his own little ball of wool, he was still more interested in mine, I assume because it was moving. Oh dear!

Ha ha. That's what cats do, they often sabotage my projects too.

Re: Cats and knitting

I have 5 cats and, when I do some knitting, I put my ball of wool in a polythene bag beside me on my chair..... paper bags are no good because they can hear the wool moving in the bag!
Try waiting till he goes to sleep before you start knitting... they sleep about 16 hours a day so you should get some peace to do some knitting.

His main interest in the wool you are using is that it moves and he wants to play!
