You would think that would be the case wouldn't you. Still hopefully the case might go some way to changing the law. It seems we are all just being conned at the moment.

Re: Microchips - again

A few years ago my friend adopted a cat from an RSPCA rescue home, when she took him to her own vet she found he had been micro chipped but this chip had been done in America and never been registered to anyone,He is now registered to my friend and she says she would never give him up

Exactly - everyone knows that, Aerolor, Mups, it's all in their Criminal Records and FBI files. Of course there are always the uninitiated who think it may simply be done so that the pet may be returned to their owners - but that's just silly!!

I am glad it turned out OK in this case - I would do serious harm to anyone who stole or injured one of mine.

My dog is not microchipped and this decision has my vets approval.
So they do have to be microchipped or you are fined, why haven't you got your animal microchipped? Your vet is in the WRONG!!!!

Re: Microchips - again

Very elderly or weak dogs or even dogs too small shouldn't be chipped. It would be cruel to do so, I think vets know who are genuine T.

I think my vet knows more about the suitability of having my dog microchipped than anyone else Tarantula and she has advised against having this particular dog microchipped on health grounds unless I absolutely have to.

You are only subject to a fine if your dog is lost or stolen and found not to be microchipped. You are then given a period of time to get your dog done and if you don't you will be subject to a fine.

My dog is not likly to be lost or stolen so I am taking my vets advice and not having her done.

They are on different data bases Nom, when Betty was a pup we wanted her chipped but had to wait until she was either 7 lb or they could do it under anaesthetic which we chose when we had her spayed. As she has only reached 5 lb we are pleased we did it then as she has remained too little.

Our vet I trust and while I like you I'm sticking with his advice on how I care for her.
