Well councils have been known to disregard certain laws as we all know, either by mis-management, ignorance or plain abuse of power.

Don't tell me that all councils are above board, because they certainly are NOT.

First you said this : No they were not and they have never had these powers.

Then you said this : The only emails they are allowed to access are those sent by their staff or Politicians and then only when they are using a Council Computer.

Finished by this : referring to amendments to RIPA. and the reasons for the amendments are fairly clear.

So first you say they can't and then you say they can access emails .

The topic was about surveillance, maybe you don't treat it as surveillance, Swim

I assume you were a council employed, enforcement officer ? Similar to a bailiff or car park attendant ?
