battery charger

I have an Ansmann AAA/AA battery charger which just speed working. Does anyone have any experience in getting one of these mended? It's an energy 8 plus model, quite expensive. I am in the process of buying a different I've but don't want to just throw it out if it can be mended. It's a very good charger. Thanks

Re: battery charger

Have you taken it apart to see what is inside? The fault might be obvious.

There is usually bugger all in them - half a dozen components at the most.

Re: battery charger

Thanks for suggestion. Would have done already but don't have the N screwdriver. May have to look onto purchasing one. Perhaps I can find a cheap version as it won't get used again for years.

Re: battery charger

The problem you have is it only has one circuit to charge all the batteries is my guess. I had one called Powermate" 8 way charger and that packed up

So what I did was get MAHA ( MH-C801D) model 8 way charger and every cell has its own circuit
definately not cheap @ £80 approx but well worth it.

Re: battery charger

Thanks but fairly certain charger has independent circuits charging each battery. It was quite expensive when I brought it, less so now at £62 http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/batter...-volt/4393659/
It certainly says it monitors each battery individually. I'll get andrew N screwdriver and have a look.

In the spec it says quote"

Microprocessor controlled charging, utilising delta peak techniques
Faulty cell detection
Pre Charge Function
Individual supervision of each inserted cell" unquote

What it doesn't say is each cell has its own microprocessor although it tends to suggest it. What it does say is it has A microprocessor not 8 microprocessors

All it says is individual supervision etc which is not the same thing.

I spent a very long time researching a load of battery chargers of this type for AA and AAA batteries What I noticed is how carefully worded they were.

Some specifications designed to mislead what they were capable of and in actual fact don't. Hence I came across this MAHA model, and believe me the research I did was unbelievable before I splashed out that amount of money.
