Re: No surgery for smokers or obese

We've been educated to believe fat butter etc was bad, now it's accepted sugar is the problem. I think calling for education is absolutely right thing. But education of the people telling us what to eat more to the point.

I wonder how many of those refused could go private and have the same surgeon perform the same op.

I dont know how anyone in this day and age would fail to know that sugar is bad for you ditto junk food.

As for smoking its been known for decades we have had more anti smoking education than that yet young people are still smoking including medics.

Its an addiction .

When i see young mothers wreathing their children's heads in cancerous smoke i want to give them a good smack.

Re: No surgery for smokers or obese

Some studies suggest that because smokers and obese people die sooner, they may actually cost the NHS less than healthy people who live much longer and develop chronic conditions like Alzheimer's disease....No winners here by the looks of things...You can't force or threaten obese Folks to diet any more than smokers can be forced to stop...so I guess We'll just have to live and let live and those of Us who are neither smokers or obese should desist from pointing fingers.

I don't know how common it is but that was offered to my husband but luckily he met his surgeon before we had to decide.

If we didn't point fingers at smokers they would still be blowing their filthy fags all over us.
Ruining peoples meals or pleasure in going to the cinema or traveling in a bus or plane.
Making ones clothes smell like an ash tray .
Sorry smokers its a selfish inconsiderate dirty habit.

Re: No surgery for smokers or obese

Its alright them saying they are not going to operate on smokers or obese people. But who says what size is obese as someone pointed out some things you read say someone who is a size 14 is obese. Get a grip.

When I was waiting in the doctors surgery for hubby the other week I was amazed at home many of the doctors where way overweight.

This should also apply to drinkers, as we know alcohol is loaded with sugar.

It's really a difficult one to call when singling out a couple of issues, that are often related to other issues.

Having sat with a child in a&w while about 10 muscly rugby players were brought in and fawned over I'd say sports injuries are as bad as anything self inflicted is.
