Lest we forget them too

I cannot let this day close without remembering the many thousands of horses ,mules and dogs who suffered and died in wars that were none of their making.
most pictures are too distressing to post but here is a moment of quiet in the battle for a soldier and his horse.

A friend of mine popped in this evening, Muddy, and she was wearing a purple poppy for the animals.
As you say, thousands must have been killed.
