Re: Most expensive painting ever

Now I am a art lover, both my daughter and grandaughter are also into art one a teacher and one a student.
But I have to say if I had all the money in the world I would not pay the prices that are going about in todays art world.
It seems like you don't have to be intelligent to be billionaires these days just have more money than sense.
To pay £341 million for a painting is in my opinion just to daft for words. Especially when it sold for £45 in 1958.
Now that was a sensible price.

Hi

The most priceless painting in the world to me is one done by my daughter at playschool, dad xxx

£350 million would not buy it from me.

I think that you have to see this purchase as, simply, an investment.

Likely it will be stored, safely, or loaned to a Gallery, and then sold again for more money.

Better than sending money abroad?

This is unquestionably one of my favorites. It's a montage of drawings and paintings that, over time, a Down's syndrome child did of her dad. Her mother combined them all on canvas as a Father's Day gift. Da Vinci has his merits, but THIS is priceless:

Re: Most expensive painting ever

Even if I could buy something of that price, I'd be scared to ever exhibit it.
I'd worried some nutter would damage it or nick it.

I am sure some of these people buy expensive things as a status symbol and investment even if they don't even like it to look at.

Personally, I'd sooner spend my money on other things.
Does that make me a peasant?
