Re: Scientists Create Life.

Too frightening to contemplate for me.
This line from the article worried me :-

The work also gives some support to the concept that life can exist elsewhere in the universe using genetics different from those on Earth

Re: Scientists Create Life.

At the minute, it's nothing more than another attention grabbing headline. It may have exciting possibilities for future research and may indeed show that lifeforms with a different genetic makeup could exist elsewhere, but it's very early days.

Re: Scientists Create Life.

I think there's enough life forms on the planet as it is, what do we want to create more for?, we can't look after the one's we've got properly including our own species, when we fix that problem then maybe we can move on. Pandora's box comes to mind, leave well enough alone until we put our own house in order I say.

I don't know why they bothered - any dole bludger and his sheila can do the same thing without $millions in research grants.

I mean, look at Dolly the sheep? there's a shortage of sheep?

What about chickens with six legs and pigs with three backsides for the food industry, we do genetic engineering with plants won't be long before they start on animals, my problem is I haven't tasted a decent tomato since they started messin around with the plant, God knows what the chickens legs and bacon will taste like.
