Well the GP appointment type A&E walk ins don't cost much Muddy. But they do take up time of the doctors who need to look at emergency admissions that come via ambulance.

No the accidents are not just baby boomers, but baby boomers (and older) are more likely to come in by ambulance and to be admitted for more complex care which costs far more money.

Hi

They come here for the money and the opportunity to make a better life.

They are not all scroungers.

Zac and Derek, who stay with me, have business's here in the UK.

They pay rent and Business Rates on an Industrial Unit.

They paid over £20k in tax last year.

They both have a Medical Card to pay their Medical Bills here, never been asked for it, and when they produced it, told it did not matter.

To be sure there are those who come here for our Benefits System, but not all do.

Anna came here because the wages are better than in Poland, she is on £34k a year here, a fortune in Poland.

She was snapped up straight away because we not train enough ourselves in Technical Degrees.

Lucash and Manek are time served Hydraulic Specialists, they earn a mint here.

I just find it totally wrong that we do not pay our engineers and technical people enough.

There is something wrong with a Society that we have Estate Agents driving round in BMWs when the people who do real jobs get paid much less.

Re: Nhs

Living in an area that is not built up and semi rural in parts, 3 local surgeries were closed a few years ago, against much opposition, and one Medical Centre was opened to replace them.

This is on their website : Here at our surgery we have 11 Doctors, 4 Nurses, 4 Healthcare Assistants and an Administrative Team of over 30. We also have numerous other healthcare professionals that work out of the Medical Centre on a weekly basis including Physiotherapists, Ultra sonographers and Midwives.

Can anyone tell me why it should take 2 weeks to get an appointment ? Is it because the 'Walk In Centre' and main hospital A& E is about 5 mins walk around the corner , because that's where everyone seems to go to now ?

It also has 'Welcome' written in 22 different languages so although not many foreign languages spoken in this part of the country, it's obviously a much needed national provision , so we can make our own minds up about that.

It has an overall rating of 2* out of 5* for reviews. Not good if the service is not there at the first port of call ! Does this contribute to wasted money in the NHS, I'm sure it must do ?

Hi

The NHS seems to be on a mission, bigger is better.

It certainly isn't.

Sorry Swim, I wasn't suggesting for one minute that they were scroungers, in fact I applaud someone who uproots and travels to another country, some of whom don't even speak the language, in order to make a better life for themselves and their families. It must be a massive risk.

However, one of the reasons why I voted for Brexit was because you can't have open borders with countries that are not as economically viable as the more wealthy and successful ones. It's obvious what is going to happen, and it has. Also, if you take all the skilled people out of these poorer countries when are they ever going to be better off. It's just going to promote more poverty and bad conditions for the local population.

Surely, the EU would have been better off encouraging growth and industry in these poorer countries instead of allowing the lucky few to abscond to a more conducive environment.

That's my experience too.

When we recently had our kitchen refitted, the plasterer was from Dubrovnik and the fitter from Latvia. Both did an excellent job.

There's also an East European odd job man who we have used a couple of times and who has done excellent work.

As I've said before, I am perfectly happy for these people to come here if they possess skills that are useful for our country. I do not want any of those who come here just for hand-outs and free housing, and certainly not criminals and jihadists.

Hi

I take a somewhat different view OGF.

We should have been training our own, we chose not too.

I have always found it bizarre that I was paid more than those who can produce wealth for us.

I am no engineer, or electrician or hydraulic specialist.

I can calculate the stresses on a wing for an airplane, building the wing is completely beyond me.

To me, that is where we went wrong, we do not pay the doers enough.

Give me a piece of ground and I will calculate the size of the foundations necessary, I will calculate the size of the heating system and any structural beams necessary.

I could no more build it than I could win Miss World.

We just underpay those who can, and that is where we need to change.

Unless and until we do so, we will not get anywhere.

30 administrators compared to 19 qualified healthcare professionals. Yes, I'm sure that reflects the NHS in general. People shuffling papers and pushing pens are so very important these days, aren't they?

Rampant bureaucracy, found in all walks of present-day British life.

Yes, it is perfectly clear why the NHS cannot afford to treat more patients more quickly. Still, as long as they have a vast army of administrators that's all that matters.

Hi

Bollocks JBR.

I genuinely believe that our own stupidity has got us into this mess.

Blair and his University for all.

We undervalue our engineers , builders , mechanics, those who we rely on.

Instead we have a generation of Media Studies etc who are no use at all in the real world.

Literally thousands of Environmental Studies Graduates expecting to start as an EHO on £30k a year.

They are sadly disappointed, no use or ornament.

A Sports Science Graduate, expecting to find a job here in Prees, no chance.

We have gone sadly wrong.

We should not be charging to train in jobs which we need, just go back to the old system.

I was not charged, I simply had to agree to work for years to pay it off.
