Junk Mail ( poem)
Junk Mail
We've been getting lots of catalogues 'bout mostly useless stuff
from vitamin pills that cure your ills to ways to stop dandruff.
It's all crammed in our letterbox or 'strewn about the ground,
is this part of the reason that our trees are bein' chopped down
It's alright when they offer things that I can actually use
like wine and spirits 'nd chocolate and take aways 'nd booze
I don't splurge on expensive brands, I reckon it's all spin
the only difference I can see is label on the tin.
If you come into shop on Wednesday, we'll give you two for one
(so the junk mail told us Monday) but by Wednesday morn' it's gone,
or was it ever there at all?, are they just after our 'lolly'?
If i were to to fall for that again, I'd be off my trolley.
In just a day of shopping we must walk a fair few miles
as we search for elusive bargains in the supermarket aisles.
We used to fill our shoppin' carts for a reasonable amount
then go the department store and put stuff on our account.
We're struggling now on minimum pay and things are getting tight
I even tore up my credit card ( I cried and cried all night)
But life is good and we should learn how to be satisfied
There's lots out there who're much worse off and that can't be denied
