Hello Carl - why dont you try the discs, a good way of learning as you can hear how to pronounce too...

You'd be surprised, some people find being asked to help flattering and would be pleased to pass on their knowledge. Lots of people have time on their hands, ask around.

go 4 it.... I started to learn french at the age of 50 ...with no previous learning. i started with CD's then took lesson at local night school now in france learning first hand... best thing I ever did .....

You can start a language at any age!

I'm learning Spanish at Memrise at the moment, have a look and see what you think. It's completely free, and split into lots of mini-courses so you're not signing your life away!
