Re: So why are you all.

I certainly don't think our generation have a sense of entitlement - quite the opposite. What they have they have generally worked hard for, saved for, paid taxes and contributed to society in various ways. Rather, I think it is many of the following generations who are the ones with the sense of entitlement. IMO if a person has worked hard, saved for old age and paid their dues all through life, then why shouldn't a person be able to enjoy the fruits of their labours in later life. Many of those who have p****d it all up against the wall, both older ones and the younger ones are those who are the grumpy ones and the moaners.

I agree Aerolor I haven't met many of my generation born in the 40's who had 'a sense of entitlement ' on the contrary we grew up in a time when there were very few state benefits and an attitude of being responsible for one's
self rather than 'the world owes me a living'.

Me neither Meg. No one gave us anything at all. We had nothing until we went out and worked for it. I think the some of the generations following us most certainly have a sense of entitlement. They are the ones who want everything yesterday and are prepared to go into copious amounts of debt rather than do without until they have saved enough to buy it.

Re: So why are you all.

If it wasn't for a company pension-state pension -wifes state pension- and a couple of private pensions we would really have problems keeping our heads above water.

Luckily Sue is a big saver and had thought of our future, so at the moment we can manage.

If it wasn't for running our own business earlier enough in life which helped, wages as an employee would not have been anywhere enough to be able to save.

My advice to anyone, start running your own business as soon as possible and put your hard work into your own pocket, and not that of an employer
