Among the other age groups, voters aged 24 to 49 narrowly opted for Remain (54%) over leave (46%) while 60% of voters between the ages of 50 and 64 went for Leave."

The problem is we have an age top heavy society, which gives the old a disproportionate influence on governments who need their votes.

Brexit for the most part has been inflicted on the young by the over fifties. And there are more of them. Of course there were noble exceptions but it still means that as the Boomer generation die off, those of the next generation who wanted to Remain will have a better chance of getting their voice heard.

They will look back at how much better their lives were before Brexit, and see the EU countries prospering and want to put things right.
No comment in France leaving the EU then Twizz.

He is right, ignorance, xenophobia, self-interest, malice and lack of understanding are not confined to just voters in the UK. Had France had a referendum, they might well have voted to leave the EU. And they would have been just as misguided and the consequences just as disastrous for France as they will be for the UK.

That is why referendums on complicated issues whose consequences the voters don't understand and can't predict can be a mistake and the way left open to reverse them when the extent of that mistake is revealed.

So you are telling us that over 17 million people in this country are too thick to understand how to vote.

Perhaps we should go back a hundred years or so and restrict voting to males only, or even further back in time to the days when only the rich and privileged were allowed to vote.

Or is it, perhaps, that you'd rather only yourself and those who agree with you should have a vote?

It would not need to be 17 million would it? Slightly over 800 000 would have been enough.

Are you allowed to vote in the French Elections?

https://news.sky.com/story/emmanuel-...ve-eu-11216872
That's interesting ... but I doubt you'll get a worthwhile polite opinion on it.

There are many links to the same thoughts on the EU, the above are just three of many picked at random

* Shakes head in disbelief* .... talk about hatemongering. It'll go and on as long as there are small minded mushy peaheads pedalling such divisiveness.

Yes, it tells me that people aim their well justified discontent with how things are in their lives at the wrong targets. Their current problems aren't caused by the EU, and they will be far worse off without it, but they hit out with a protest vote. Cutting their noses off to spite their face instead of tackling the real sources of their problems.
