How come other countries manage it but it's so difficult for us ? It feels very much like some are being deliberately down about what we are able to do. We aren't so stupid we can't do these things.

At least that would be the sensible way to implement stricter border controls. However, they seem to be discussing the colour of the cover above all else and they don't yet know what our border strategy will be. De la rue's contract is up for retender in 2019. So i predict a costly shambles given the uncertainty.

Because our government departments don't talk to each other. The left hand frequently doesn't know what the right is doing. Other countries do have similar problems. But we do seem to make things more difficult for ourselves due to lack of coordinated approach.

And nows the time to sort all that out IMO it's time we thought about what next too much time worrying about in or out when the decision has long been made, now time to look at all our systems and make them better.

It would be perfect if we did but it costs lots of money we don't have to improve things, at a time of across the board cuts.

Doesn't have to cost any more than we could save by tightening up things. Start at the top halve the lords, and MPs. There's a big saving to start with.

I agree completely, apart from the Lords.

The House of Lords should be abolished in its present state and substituted with an elected body of perhaps 100 members (the same number as the American Senate - do we need more than them?).

The only problem I can see with elected second house would be if one party were strong like at the moment we could see no difference, no brakes on policy one way or another. If that could be addressed I'd be happy to elect too.

If one party is strong, as at the moment, that is no doubt the fault of the other parties.

If they want more public support, and votes, they need to offer what the majority of people want and not concentrate on their own personal opinions.

The present weakness of the Labour and Limp Dem parties is as a result of this very thing.

Re: Brexit - Public's Views

How would that save billions though? To make everything super efficient would cost billions and take years. If history is anything to go by the next government would spend billions more changing it again. This seems to be how we get things done in the uk. One step forward two steps back.
