I've still got mine. It's the only way I can make a half decent Yorkshire.

I can't get the hang of rice - always comes out gloopy. The only one that comes out half decent is wild rice.
UJ's Yorkies are similar to mine :
1 mug plain flour
1 mug milk
2 eggs pinch of salt
Combine these together and leave to rest for an hour.
I use silicon muffin cake moulds. Heat the fan oven to 200c.
Pour a small amount of vegetable oil in each mould and heat for at least 15 minutes.
Ladle the yorkie mix into each mould ( 6 ) and cook for 25 minutes - and there you have it

So they do work then Frankie. One thing about Tupperware, although quite expensive to buy, they stand the test of time. I still have a few storage containers from the sixties!

I solved the rice problem buying better rice in a bag, basmati is far easier than long grain to get right and in a bag it works well everytime.

Re: Things you just can't cook

Basmati rice is really easy to cook, once you are rid of the starch and dust

Measure out a mug full into a sieve and run under a cold tap til water is clear

Chuck into a small pan, one where the rice is a third or less up the pot

Add salt, not a lot , a wee pinch

Then enough cold water to cover and when you put a finger in on top of the rice, enough to cover the finger nail

Add lid then bring to a fast boil. Soon as the boil starts, turn to the lowest heat or even take of the stove. Leave the lid on, don’t touch, wait 20 mins and perfect rice

With Yorkies I always use the one egg, 4 tbls of each flour water and milk. ( use multiples of the above ) Always allow to sit for at least 30 mins and make sure the fat is smoking before adding the batter.

I second that second! Or I now buy the foil sachets of micro rice, which quite often gets put in the frying pan.

Simply cannot ever make the perfect boiled egg, they always look like the craters on the moon with all the pitted parts where the shell stuck.

Solved that one too with an egg cooker, little space ship looking gadget you prick end of egg and pop the eggs on a rack and get steam in a about 1/4 inch of water. Brilliant makes anything from a soft boiled dippy egg to a hard boiled sand which egg. Has a little pan for poached and omelettes too.

Re: Things you just can't cook

All i know about what happens in the kitchen is a load of plates or something gets stored in there. Did see a strange object once that had a longish handle on it but what it was for I don't have a clue.
I can make a cup of coffee or tea if pushed I think.

If alone there is the pub for meals
