Dangerous Intel Chip Flaw Reported!

The DT (today) is telling us that a cyber expert at Insinia Security warns that there is a serious flaw in Intel microchips which has gone undetected for a decade.

Apparently this flaw allows hackers a "persistent & undetectable backdoor into someone's computer".

Access allows hackers to bypass antivirus and firewall software.

"It could allow malicious software to steal passwords and files or crypto keys"

He says the big companies (Microsoft, Amazon, Apple) have been warned and work is afoot to create a workaround.

Sadly, they think that such a workround may slow the PC down by 30%.

True, Julie!

I also take the view that the baddies will have seen this pronouncement and, if they haven't transgressed already, might well be rushing to screw us all before the fix goes in.

A Security Company, letting the world know there's such a problem, may enhance the problem?

That did occur to me, we often seem to tell the bad guys how to harm us always puzzles me why we do it.

Well, the fact that The National Cyber Security Centre, an arm of GCHQ, is involved and active suggests that it is True!

They're telling people to fit the updates as they become available.

There is no evidence that anyone has been exploited yet.

So I wonder why they are rushing to get a fix out?

Also, how did they find out that there was a problem?

No doubt at all that the big players have always known about this. Most likely the "hardware" is all a part of the worldwide spy network. Big Brother. It's just that now some genius has discovered that it's been happening.

Cue the next spying set of hardware, the next new chip that they will tell us we all need to have. So cue a new generation of PCs, Laptops, iPads and Smartphones etc etc etc

People will lap up anything they are fed imo.

This is not just an Intel flaw, ARM and AMD are affected as well

I read that Apple has already issued a patch to protect their users.

Built in obsolescence in my opinion.
