Trumpet vine

I've been waiting a number of years to see our trumpet vine with a few decent flowers on it. Might have been even better if there had been some rain:

Re: Trumpet vine

We had a red one at our last address and it almost took over the world with the spread of flowers. That's why I planted this one where we live now. That was about 8 or 9 years ago. The shoots got eaten by ants in the first year but it's been getting gradually better and better each year with a bit of nurturing.

I've never heard of those before, Mart.
It looks very pretty.
Are they evergreen?

Re: Trumpet vine

It's not an evergreen Mups. The one we had at the last house was a prolific grower with hundreds of flowers on it but it died off to brown stems each winter. A very attractive plant once it gets going but it has be trimmed back hard every now and then to keep it under control.

The plant shown doesn't need that yet ..but next year maybe.
