Re: Diesel Ban.

This article is mirrors the exact reason why Germany is having so many problems now. Also the industries constant bragging about new technology is hiding the fact that they're not getting the old diesels off the road.

Re: Diesel Ban.

What really annoys me is that Im being hammered on VED because my petrol 1.6 Beetle because of the age - yet passes the emissions test with flying colours every year, yet Mr Missy drives around in a 4 litre diesel and pays zero VED

There is nowt wrong with my car, except its heavy on petrol so I cant justify getting rid of it. Low milage, spotless condition, but its only worth anything to me.Actually I think the number plate would get more then the car lol

Re: Diesel Ban.

Diesel cars are causing pollution so should be banned. All old cars, which are not environmentally friendly, should incur such swinging tax rates that no one can afford to drive them.

Re: Diesel Ban.

Doesnt seem that long ago we were being encouraged away from petrol into diesel. They need to make their minds up before some of us can no longer afford to drive. It's great saying change your car to an electric etc but many of us only buy cheap second hand ancient cars because that's all we can afford.

Re: Diesel Ban.

The environment is more important than whether people can afford to buy more environmentally friendly cars. I thought the Government was coming up with a scrappage scheme for old cars?

No getting to work is the most important thing and without a car many of us would be unable to do that. Scrappage schemes only apply to anyone buying a new car, OK for anyone can afford that, the rest of us don't get a penny toward our cars.

Re: Diesel Ban.

The new car we ordered which hasn't even been built yet will not meet the new emission standard for petrol engines being brought in here next year. It will have to be fitted with a particle filter. Seeing as we won't have to have the first MOT test for three years, it can wait.
